I got tired of losing my best riffs to the air.
Hi, I'm Shranav. I'm a computer engineer, guitarist, and designer of AutoMic.
When I wrote music, my best moments happened spontaneously.
But by the time I reached for my phone, the moment was gone.
So, I built AutoMic.
It starts capturing the second you pick up your instrument. And stops when you put it down.
If you do something cool, just double tap the mic and keep playing. No red light, no distractions. Just you and the music.
Here's how you use it:
- Attach it to your instrument.
- Double-tap when something is worth saving.
FAQ
Does AutoMic record my voice?
No.
AutoMic is not a typical open-air microphone. It's a contact mic, picking up vibrations directly from your instrument's body.
It is designed to capture just your instrument, not your voice, conversations, or room audio.
What if my phone isn't in range?
You can keep playing normally.
When you double-tap, AutoMic saves the clip directly on the device instead of sending it to your phone.
AutoMic stores up to three offline bookmarks for at least five days after you last use it, giving you plenty of time to open the app and reconnect.
If storage is full, a new clip will replace the oldest one.
The next time your phone reconnects, your saved clips transfer automatically.
How does it work?
AutoMic begins capturing when you pick up your instrument and stops when you put it down.
When you double-tap the mic, it bookmarks a clip of what you just played.
If your phone is connected, the clip is saved to the app. If it isn’t, AutoMic stores the clip onboard and syncs it the next time you reconnect.
You can listen to, organize, and export your saved clips from the app.
