Mipix Record is a contact microphone for acoustic instruments that automatically captures your playing.
Once inspiration strikes, double-tap the mic to retroactively save what you just played. Record sends it to your phone, or stores it until you reconnect.
Hi, I'm Shranav. I'm a computer engineer, guitarist, and designer of Record.
When I make music, my best moments happen spontaneously.
But by the time I reach for my phone, the moment is gone.
So, I built Record. It's designed to capture your best moments as you play.
No red light, no distractions. Just you and your music.
Here's how you use it:
Attach it to your instrument.
Double-tap when something is worth saving.
FAQ
Does Record capture my voice?
No.
Record is not a typical open-air microphone. It's a contact mic, picking up vibrations directly from your instrument's body.
It is designed to capture just your instrument, not your voice, conversations, or room audio.
What if my phone isn't in range?
You can keep playing normally.
When you double-tap, Record saves the clip directly on the device instead of sending it to your phone.
Record stores multiple offline clips for at least five days after you last use it.
You can choose the clip length in the app.
The next time your phone reconnects, your saved clips transfer automatically.
How does it work?
Record begins capturing when you pick up your instrument and stops when you put it down.
When you double-tap the mic, it saves a clip of what you just played.
You can choose the clip length in the app.
If your phone is connected, the clip is immediately available in the app. If it isn’t, Record stores the clip onboard and syncs it the next time you reconnect.
You can listen to, organize, and export your saved clips from the app.
